Adopt a Alaskan Malamute (medium coat)

Alaskan Malamute (medium coat) Dog

Max the Dog needs a home

MAX

Breed: Alaskan Malamute / Adoption fee is $150 / Sex: Male / Age: Approximately 6 yrs old / Weight: Approximately 71.6 pounds

Max is our big handsome love bug and is very affectionate and sweet to all the volunteers.  He will be a very loyal and loving companion and will lay in your lap and let you rub his belly for hours.

Max was living with a female malamute when he first came to the rescue and got along well with her.  However, he has shown guarding behaviors during meal times.   He has not been in group housing with other dogs so we are unsure if he gets along with both males and females.  He may do best in a home with a similar size female. Soft and cuddly, he would rather curl up beside you on the couch instead of doing something active.  He doesn't like to be alone and will whine when he's by himself.  Max enjoys going on walks and getting to play in the Pet Angels park.

Max has been living in a large indoor/outdoor kennel with trips to the park for exercise.  He has not attempted to jump our fence in the park however we require a secure yard and fence for our northern breeds.  Max has not been cat tested but malamutes tend to have a prey drive.  Overall, Max has been a well-behaved boy who wants nothing more than to snuggle with people and be loved on.

NORTHERN BREEDS: All of our Husky/Northern breeds require a home visit to check for appropriate fencing and, if needed, to offer tips on containment.  You can quicken your adoption process by sending us some yard pics, focusing on the fence lines, when you submit your application.

Please keep in mind if you want to own a husky or malamute you will need to be open to the fact that containing this dog may require you to install a hot wire system (cost is approx $100) this is quite often needed to prevent digging, climbing or chewing through fences.  A hot wire is typically the best route to start with for proper containment and peace of mind.  Some of our dogs will require this fencing method, prior to adoption, knowing they have a history of escaping and will either jump or climb over your current fencing.  For most yards installation of a hot wire is simple and can be done in under 2 hours.

Northern Breeds are beautiful dogs but can have challenging personalities.  They can be demanding and very destructive by chewing or digging and if not exercised they may be hard to contain when their needs are not met. Please learn a little more about the breed on our website Home Page.

Pet Angels has a number of northern breeds available for adoption and you can see them all by visiting www.petangelsrescue.org.
